GENERAL INFO, TIPS & TECHNIQUES:
I use this the least of the toys I have. I don't like that my unit
is simply not powerful enough to be used with the Folsom prod, one of my favorite
toys. However, a friend of mine also has a tens unit. We tested it with a
voltage meter and it has about twice the power. His can be used with the Folsom
prod. As long as the unit has enough power you should be able to use it with
any Folsom / PES attachment. Folsom has made
their products easier to use with a tens unit by selling connection adapters.
With PES you will have to improvise, see more about this in the adapter
page.
I used to sometimes use it with the Folsom mini plug for self-pleasuring,
Though I have used it for self-pleasuring, I can't say the sensation is really
all that pleasurable. It's not really painful either. Many times after a while,
it can be very annoying and will drive a sub nuts. On a low setting, using
it with the butt plug, it feels like there are bugs crawling around in your
ass. Higher settings give more a fucking sensation. It does help me cum sometimes,
but it is certainly not foolproof or a "wow" device. I like that
the tens unit is small and lightweight. It is easy to control with one hand
and move around with. They are also fairly inexpensive, around $100 - $150.
However, I much prefer using the more more expensive ($350 - $450)
Eros Tek boxes. While the Eros Tek ET-312 is to bulky to carry around, the
Eros Tek 301R is around the same size as the TENS Unit is much better for
this. I even prefer the sensation of using the relaxacisor with the
butt plug. However, again the relaxacisor is just too bulky and the improvised
connection are not stable enough to use when moving around in a bed.
Recently, in a local store (Xanadu), I saw some accessories specifically
for tens unit play. One was a cupped circular plate meant to be put over the
breasts. It really looked interesting. I found this and a bunch more tens
unit stuff at the BDSM
Toy Box I'm not sure about using the toys with other electric units like
the Eros Tek. They might need a special adapter. I have also used a tens unit
with pads, mostly on or near the nipples. Pads come in both self-stick and
carbon rubber variety. It can be hard to get good contact with the rubber
ones. The self-stick conduct better, but they can only be used a few times
(they claim longer - but I haven't found this to be true) before you have
to replace them. In any case if your sub has hair where you try to stick it,
it either won't contact well (mostly with rubber) or pulling it off could
be painful. Of course, pulling it off, along with the hair, could be great
scene ender.
Most units have settings to adjust the width and rate as well as ability to
turn modulated rate (mr) or modulated width (mw) off. A cycle burst setting
gives a pulsing sensation. I used the cb setting on one of my subs who didn't
know what I was using. I asked him what he though it was, and his response
"Christmas lights". It is fun to put it on a steady, more constant,
setting for a while, let a sub get used it, then innocently switch to the
cb mode, without changing the intensity. The usual response is a gasp or a
nice moan - mmmm.
Because it is portable, it can be used discretely in public places (like restaurants)
with a little creativity. It's about the size of a pager so you can simply
cover it with a coat or something. Think of making your sub wear a butt plug
and then taking him/her out to eat. At any moment you can turn the device
on and make him/her squirm What Fun!!
When using it with the Folsom prod the sensation is very intense. I assume
it is very probably very close to what the Folsom boxes produce, since it
focuses on such a tiny point. The sensation has been compared to tattoo needle,
but I don't have a tattoo, so I don't know. It is very painful, especially
in the right spots.
SAFETY:
As with all electricity they say not to use this above the waist. This
seems really silly as they were meant mostly to put on the back to relive
back pain. I have used on the chest / breast many times.
PURCHASING:
This is one of the least expensive toys, you can find them used for $50
-$150 or buy one made for play. However, you never really know what you're
buying without trying it out. The power they output varies greatly. Make sure
it has adjustments for mr, mw and cb (see above) as well - some do not. Ask
if they will test it out before you buy. Personally, I wouldn't buy this as
a first toy, especially if you can't try it out first. The relaxacisor is
around the same price, but more versatile, especially if don't need it for
self gratification. One brand a few people seem to have is an Omron. I think
this is the brand Mr.
S Fetters carries, but I'm not positive.
I got my units on ebay. They are not supposed to be sold there however,
so right down the person's e-mail so you can contact them and make an offer
if ebay yanks. You can some find one made for play at: Body
Language (local) and Mr.
S Fetters. Toys for tens units can be found at the BDSM
Toy Box
Of course, you will probably want to buy attachments for it which will run
you about $50 - $200 each. You can also use it with pads. This is can get
very expensive as a set of four pads runs about $10 -$15. The rubber are more
expensive, but can be used over and over.
