GENERAL INFO, TIPS & TECHNIQUES:

They are the safest and easier to use of all the electrical play toys. They use static electricity rather that current. It also the prettiest and most showy of all the electric toys. When on, it "glows" purple. This looks awesome in low light, similar to one of those electric balls you touch in novelty shops. You will almost always get attention when using one of these.

The sensation can range from very mild to fairly intense depending on how it is used. Using it with the large ball attachment is very mild. The larger the attachment, the gentler it is. Using metal, such as butter knife, wartenburg wheel, ball chains, pin hammer, golden wheel and guitar picks. The smaller the point, the more intense it is. A shock whip with conductive rubber strands is also available.

Using the body contact pad, you can make yourself or your sub electric too. Simply place the pad on yourself (your electric) or your sub (sub is electric) placing the pad on yourself. I usually make the sub electric. As a dom / domme you are moving (while the sub is or should be relatively still) and it easy to knock the unit over and break it this way. You can also get tangled in the cord easy. I usually use a tight belt to hold it against the sub. Also, with my cheaper unit I also get shocked when I turn the power knob as well. Using just your or their body to conduct electricity is a rather mild, often sensual, sensation compared with using other toys and accessories.

Typically (on the more expensive ceramic core models) there is a button you must press and keep pressing to keep the unit on. However, in most cases if you want to leave it on this is a nuisance. Simply place a snug rubber band around it to hold the button down. For some models two kinds of foot pedals are also available for hands free operation.

Remember when placing the pad on yourself your whole body is electric, including your tongue, which you can use in interesting ways. However, you will feel some of shock too and might get a sore tongue if you use it a lot, use caution.

Though I have never done it, or even seen it done, I am told people also use it in fire play Once the alcohol in on the skin the spark of the wand is used to light it. I'm sure it's very pretty and gets a lot attention. Please don't try this if your not familiar with both the wand and fire play.

SAFETY:

Using electrical toys on those with pacemakers or heart problems in not advised. The wand is the only Electro toy that is considered safe to use above the waist, including the nipples. It should only be used skin. Skin has a protective covering over it. Using it on the anus or inner labia, for example, is not advised since the lining there is not protective. In general, it should not be used above the neck. It must be kept AWAY from the eyes, since it would cause serious problems there.

The wand can BURN is caution is not taken. Buy going over the same place several times some people even used it to create permanent brands. Generally, you should more the wand around and not concentrate on just one area for that that very reason. Wand play can leave marks, but doesn't always. It depends on the sub's skin and how intense your play is. Marks are much more likely to occur with metal object play. Marks are usually mild, more like a heat rash and don't last long. Keep in mind that marks don't always show up right away. However, I had one sub who had dark red lines all over him about an hour after I did it. I don't know how long they lasted, but they were very vivid and looked like cat scratches. I was using a dull metal butter knife and a wheel, so the intensity was high. Some people are just more sensitive to it that others. Anyone who sunburns easily or has sensitive skin should use more caution. Also, certain medications, especially those that cause sun sensitivity can cause someone to mark more easily. I have been told that using lubricant on an area the wand will be used can decrease marking.

The first time I got mine I was expecting more of a shock. I was a bit disappointed that it didn't hurt more. I shocked my nipples many, many times trying to get more of a bite. It never really hurt. However, the next day my nipples were very sore. They were really red and looked and felt sunburned. Others have told me they have had nipple skin turn black, crust over and two weeks to return to normal.

There have been several reported cases where if a Violet Wand is plugged into the same circuit (properly called a 'branch circuit') that expensive electronic equipment is plugged into (computers, stereos, clock radios, etc.) damage to these items can result. You should consider unplugging your sensitive electronics when using your Violet Wand or using the Black Box 2.

PURCHASING:

There are two kinds of units available. The original style is less expensive (wax or natural core) is not supposed to be plugged in or left on for more than 5-10 minutes or it can overheat and will never work again. They can get hot enough burn you if you touch the outside casing. Usually these run about $250. The places that sell these in most cases do not tell you about this, you find out when you get it.

The other one is more expensive (usually referred to as ceramic core), around $400 - $500 with all the attachments. It is high quality and will not overheat. The places that sell these will tell you this to explain why it is costs so much. Usually they come (or should come) in a nice heavy duty case. This is important because the wand and glass accessories are fragile and it's hard to take places otherwise. I like the more expensive much better unit. Had I known there was such a major difference in the wands, I never would have purchased the kind I have.

Note that in most cases the phrase "ceramic core" is a misnomer and incorrect. It refers to a modern capacitor, not necessarily ceramic, but not wax and tinfoil, like the old ones and the most common source of failure in old devices. All VWs have a wax core, though modern devices heat up less quickly and the wax has a higher melting point.

I like the one sold at RUPERT, HUSE & SON as they have almost every attachment (that are not homemade) I have seen. Their kit also has two large round bulb that are mild & good for show. Instead of on/off switch in the handle they are in foot pedal, a feature I have not seen elsewhere. The foot pedal is used in place of the traditional on/off button on the wand itself, which they claim often breaks. The on/off intensity knob is still used. The "reactive wand kit" is identical to the tradition except glass attachments glow a reddish orange instead of violet. Though it doesn't have the big bulb attachments or a foot pedal, I also like the one at Violetwands.com. They come in a very cool looking shiny metal case and the biggest kits include an an awesome looking knife. They also include extras not found in other kits.
