Usually violet wands come with at least three attachment.
These typically include: the probe, mushroom electrode and rake. Better ones
come with extra large globe attachments, which are milder, but showy and good
for play parities.
WARNING:
Using the wand with metal objects in more intense. It leaves marks more easily,
though It depends on the sub's skin and how intense your play is. Marks don't
always show up right away. Generally, marks are mild, more like a heat rash.
However, I had one sub who had dark red lines all over him about an hour after
I did it.
I don't know how long they lasted, but they were very vivid and looked like
cat scratches.
I was using a dull metal butter knife (I did not even come close to cutting
the skin) and a wheel, so the intensity was high.
If your sub marks well you can "carve" your initials on your sub
or make some pretty picture.
BODY CONTACT PAD: Though it doesn't come with most units, it is a MUST HAVE. Fortunately, it is fairly inexpensive and easy to find. One my favorite things to do is electrify my sub. You attach the pad firmly to your sub and turn on the machine. When touched with just your hand the sub gets a gentle shock. It can be very erotic and quite sensual. Your whole body is electric, including your tongue, which you can use in interesting ways. However, you will feel some of shock too and might get a sore tongue if you use it a lot. You can make your self electric too (by placing the pad on yourself), but I find this limiting. As a dom / domme you are moving (while the sub is or should be relatively still) and it is easy to knock the unit over and break it this way. You can also get tangled in the cord easy. With my cheaper unit I also get shocked when I turn the power knob as well. Note that anything metal can be made into a violet wand toy with this.
PARTY CENTER PIECE: You can find this any party center. They are the cheap and rather gaudy. Simply strip off the decorations and tape it to a handle. I used a paint stick, just use anything that doesn't conduct electricity.
GUITAR PICKS or VAMPIRE FINGERS or KNIFES: Use with body contact pad. Either you or your sub can be electric. Of course, they must be made entirely of metal to conduct. The picks look like claws and have quite a bite.
WIRE BRUSH: Very intense. I think it feels like
having your skin peeled off if you stoke the body with it. I bought this one
from someone. It is simply a wire brush with a metal wire wrapped around it
and attached to a metal screw at the top. You can't just use a normal brush
because the electricity won't transmit through plastic. You can use it directly
with the wand or by making you / your sub electric with the body contact pad.
To use with the wand directly you need an adapter. You clip an alligator clamp
to the wand and another to the brush. However, I don't use it this way much
because the cord between the two is electrified and you can get shocked easy.
METAL FABRIC: Not a violet wand toy per se,
fun to use. Think metallic fabric & tassels. Remember these things get
hot so test the fabric. You don't want to start a fire. Having a fire extinguisher
around is when doing this is advisable.
WARTENBURG WHEEL: Another favorite toy. Very intense because of it's multiple tiny points. It will drive you sub nuts. You can use it just like the wire brush above.
PURCHASING:
You can buy these RUPERT, HUSE & SON as they have almost every attachment (that are not homemade) I have seen. Their unit also comes with the two large ball attachments (many units don't) that are sensual and get lots of attention at play parties. They have foot pedals made exclusively for their unit as well. I have not seen these anywhere else. Many attachments can also be found at The Stockroom.
You can also go to Violetwands.com . I love the shiny metal case they have. The knife that comes in there kit is awesome as well. I don't know if the knife can be purchased separately.
